About Sparkwood Press
Books and classroom resources for upper elementary, designed by a teacher who's still in the classroom.
Sparkwood Press started with a simple frustration: I kept buying classroom resources that almost worked. The pacing was off, the lessons were thin, the design felt loud. I wanted resources that respected my students and my time — beautiful, rigorous, ready to teach.
So I started making my own. Novel studies built around real reading instruction. Writing units designed for voice, not worksheets. Anchor charts that earn their wall space. Every Sparkwood resource is something I've used in my own upper elementary classroom — and refined until it actually works.
What Sparkwood is:
Sparkwood Press is an independent literacy publisher creating two parallel collections: a growing library of curiosity-driven nonfiction books for kids, and a coordinated line of ELA classroom resources for grades 4–7. Both share the same belief — that upper elementary students deserve materials built with real instructional intention.
What I believe:
Rigor and warmth aren't opposites. Great resources hold both.
Design matters. A page that respects students invites them to do their best work.
Discussion changes everything. The best literacy work happens out loud, together.
Teachers know what they need. My job is to make resources you'd actually pick up and teach tomorrow.
Curiosity is the spark. Every book and every lesson should leave a student more curious than it found them.
